Technical Support for the development of a Monitoring and Evaluation Framework for a Maternal and Child Health Supply Chain Strengthening Project in Nigeria
An indigenous Foundation engaged DPD’s managed services, to develop an M&E framework and strategy to evaluate the implementation of its Maternal and Child Health Supply Chain Strengthening project across 4 states in Nigeria.
Justification
The client began implementing a supply chain strengthening intervention to improve the visibility, accessibility, and last mile availability of critical commodities in primary healthcare facilities across four (4) States in Nigeria: Yobe, Kaduna, Kano, Niger. This intervention entailed the deployment of innovative technology to improve supply chain visibility and a distribution network, whilst leveraging existing relationships to improve government ownership of the project to drive sustainability.
Goal
The primary goal was to develop a conceptual approach that will drive the project- This included a comprehensive M&E framework aligned with the project›s goals and objectives, an evaluation strategy, and a results tracker for the project. This framework would also include indicators and their themes, data sources, and other key M&E components.
High level technical approach
We distilled the project theory of change into a logic framework that stipulated the detailed causal sequence involved in achieving the desired changes, from activities, outputs, intermediate outcomes, primary outcomes, and strategic goals.
